CHARGES FILED AFTER OFFICERS ATTEMPT TO TAKE WANTED SUBJECT INTO CUSTODY

Seaford, DE - On May 2, 2024, at approximately 1:00 PM, the Seaford Police Department responded to Bridgeville Highway and Dutton Avenue in Seaford, Delaware to assist Delaware Probation and Parole.  

Initial information received was that P&P Officers observed a suspect, who was wanted for a Breach of Release Warrant, in a vehicle.  When the P&P Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, he sped up and struck the vehicle that P&P Officers were in.  

The suspect, who was identified as Gerald B. Watkins, 51-years of age and from Seaford, Delaware, fled the area on Bridgeville Highway, then later got out of the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area.  

Delaware State Police Trooper 2 (Aviation Unit) and Police K-9's assisted with searching for Watkins, however he was not located.  

Additional charges have now been filed and additional warrants are in place for Watkins' arrest.  The additional charges consist of two counts of Reckless Endangering 1st Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the commission of a felony, Resisting Arrest and various traffic related charges.
