Salisbury, MD - On June 14, 2023, the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office responded to Prince Street Elementary School in reference to an assault. Due to the nature of the assault, the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) assumed the investigation.It was determined that two juveniles had been involved in a fight earlier in the day. The mother and grandmother of one of the juveniles responded back to Prince Street Elementary School to confront the other juvenile. The grandmother was identified as Karen Johnson.At that point, the second juvenile's mother arrived. A physical altercation occurred between Johnson and the other juvenile's mother. During the struggle, Johnson attempted to strike, with a bottle, the other juvenile's mother, but a juvenile jumped in between them and was struck with the bottle. The juvenile suffered a facial laceration.An application for charges was completed for Karen Johnson, and a criminal summons was issued for (2) counts of second-degree assault. Johnson was served with a criminal summons.
