Chestertown Police Update on Investigation and Washington College Campus Safety Measures
Chestertown, MD - Following the recent incident involving Grafton Howard and Washington College, the Chestertown Police Department reports that the family of the accused has surrendered numerous firearms.
These weapons are currently held in police custody for safekeeping. The department notes that the Howard family remains fully cooperative with the ongoing investigation.
Regarding legal proceedings, an inquiry was submitted to the State's Attorney's Office in Kent County, Maryland. Officials are reviewing the possibility of a bond modification that would require electronic monitoring for Howard.
No decision has been finalized at this time.
To address safety concerns, Chestertown Police personnel have increased visibility on and around the Washington College campus. This effort is intended to supplement the operations of the Washington College Department of Public Safety.
