City of Salisbury Recognizes Officer Milton Rodriguez's Retirement Through Mayoral Proclamation

Salisbury, MD - On Monday, July 14, 2025, during the Salisbury City Council meeting, the City of Salisbury paid tribute to Master Police Officer (MPO) Milton Rodriguez upon his retirement, issuing an official mayoral proclamation to honor his 29 years of distinguished service to the community.


MPO Rodriguez, affectionately referred to as "Milt," began his law enforcement career with the Salisbury Police Department (SPD) on July 11, 1996. Over nearly three decades, he exemplified professionalism, integrity, and dedication to public safety. Beyond his official duties, MPO Rodriguez mentored younger officers and upheld the values of the department.


Speaking on the occasion, Salisbury Mayor Randolph J. Taylor remarked, "For both residents and city employees, it is always bittersweet to lose a great police officer like Milt Rodriguez. Officer Rodriguez's experience, talent, and loyalty are very hard to replace. While he will surely be missed, the City of Salisbury wishes him health and happiness in his well-earned retirement."


The proclamation issued by Mayor Taylor detailed the achievements and notable moments of MPO Rodriguez's career:


  • Background: Born in El Salvador in 1963, Milton Rodriguez immigrated to the United States, graduating from Great Neck South High School in 1981. He joined the SPD in July 1996.
  • Career Path: MPO Rodriguez served in several divisions over the course of his career, including Operations, Administration, and Criminal Investigations, ultimately achieving the title of Master Police Officer.
  • Federal Collaboration: From 2010 to 2019, he served as a Task Force Officer and sworn U.S. Deputy Marshal with the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, significantly contributing to both federal and regional law enforcement efforts.
  • Recognition: His service earned him numerous accolades, including the Silver Star Award, Chief's Award, and Meritorious Service Award, along with several commendations for exemplary performance and dedication.


MPO Rodriguez officially concluded his law enforcement career on May 30, 2025. His retirement marks the end of an outstanding chapter of public service, noted for its positive and lasting impact on the Salisbury community and beyond.
