SALISBURY, MD - The City of Salisbury will host a remembrance ceremony on Thursday, September 11, 2025, to honor the victims and heroes of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The event, organized by the city's Fire and Police Departments, will begin at 9 a.m. at Fire Station 16.

The ceremony is expected to last approximately 30 minutes. It will include remarks from city officials, a bagpipe performance of "Amazing Grace," and the traditional ringing of the bell in a 5-5-5 sequence to symbolize a fallen firefighter's last call. A combined Police and Fire Honor Guard will post and retrieve the colors.

"Certainly, 9/11 stands alone in our history as a day of loss. Standing together in honor of that day offers both healing and a salute to all who lost their lives. As Mayor, I am proud to pay my respects along with the staff and citizens of Salisbury," said Mayor Randolph J. Taylor.

Mayor Taylor, Salisbury Police Chief David Meienschein, and Salisbury Fire Chief Rob Frampton are scheduled to speak at the event. "It is my honor to recognize those who sacrificed, and I am forever grateful for those who continue to heed the calling of serving others, as we are their legacy," said Chief Meienschein.

The ceremony will be held at the station's flagpole and bell area. If there is inclement weather, the program will move inside to the station's engine bays. "We invite all community leaders and public safety personnel to join us in a moment of solemn reflection as we honor the lives lost and the heroes of that tragic day," said Chief Frampton.

Members of the public are invited to attend the event to join in the remembrance.
