Community Gathers for Annual Overdose Awareness Vigil in Salisbury

Salisbury, MD - The Recovery Resource Center will host the annual Overdose Awareness Vigil on Friday, August 30, 2025, at the Amphitheater at the Salisbury Riverwalk. The event, which begins at 7:00 PM, is free and open to the public.
The vigil is part of the International Overdose Awareness Day observance and aims to honor the lives lost to overdose, support individuals in recovery, and increase awareness surrounding substance use and its impact on the community. Attendees will hear personal testimonials, participate in a candlelight ceremony, and observe a moment of silence in memory of those who have passed.
"Each name we speak, each candle we light, is a reminder that these lives mattered," said Lisa Campbell, Executive Director of the Recovery Resource Center. "This vigil is not only about grief-it's about resilience, community, and the urgent need to end the stigma surrounding addiction. Recovery is possible."
Event organizers encourage families, friends, and community members to bring photos of their loved ones to display on a memorial wall. Resource tables will also be available, providing information on local recovery services, harm reduction tools, and support networks.
