Council Member Tony DeLuca Resigns from Ocean City Council

Ocean City, MD - The Town of Ocean City has announced that Council Member Tony DeLuca submitted his resignation from the Council, effective February 8, 2026. DeLuca has served on the Council since November 2014.

During his tenure, he focused on community strengthening, public safety support, and quality of life enhancements for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Mayor Rick Meehan acknowledged DeLuca's contributions to the town. "Tony has been a dedicated advocate for Ocean City and has approached every decision with thoughtfulness and a genuine love for this community," said Mayor Meehan. "I want to thank him for his commitment and wish him the very best in the future."

DeLuca stated that personal priorities necessitated his departure. "It has been an honor to represent the people of Ocean City," DeLuca said. "At this time, family must be first. I am proud of the work we have accomplished together and remain confident that this community will continue to thrive."

A special election will be held to fill the vacant Council seat, as required by the Town Charter.

The Town of Ocean City will release details regarding candidate filing, election dates, and voting procedures in the coming days.

The municipality extends its gratitude to Council Member DeLuca for his service.
