Credit Card Skimmers Discovered at Crisfield Gas Station
Crisfield, MD - The Somerset County Sheriff's Office has uncovered credit card skimmers at a local gas station following an investigation into fraudulent transactions. The devices were found at the Shore Stop located at 63 Richardson Avenue in Crisfield, Maryland.
The discovery was made on October 29th, 2025, after the Criminal Investigation Division received reports of suspicious credit card activity. Investigators determined that skimmers had been installed on gas pumps at the location. Credit card skimmers are concealed devices that criminals attach to legitimate card readers.
These gadgets are typically placed on ATMs, gas pumps, or point-of-sale terminals. They capture card information when customers make purchases, allowing thieves to clone cards or use the stolen data for online transactions.
The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are working to identify those responsible for installing the devices and to determine the full scope of the incident. The Somerset County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who may have been affected to come forward.
Individuals who used their credit cards at this location and noticed unusual charges are encouraged to contact Detective Mumford of the Criminal Investigation Division at 410-651-9225.
