State of DE - A bartender in New Castle faces charges after investigators linked her to a fatal car crash. The incident occurred on November 15, 2025. Authorities say the bartender served alcohol to a visibly intoxicated patron who was later involved in the collision.

The Delaware State Police launched an investigation into the two-vehicle crash. They identified the driver as Ashley Wright of Dover, Delaware. Investigators determined that Wright had visited Emmaculate Sports Bar on North DuPont Highway prior to the accident.

Police contacted the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement (DATE) to assist with the case. Surveillance footage obtained on November 18 revealed that Wright showed clear signs of intoxication at the bar. Despite this, she continued to be served alcoholic beverages.

On January 14, 2026, agents arrested 30-year-old Nia Jones of Bear. She is charged with the Sale or Service of Alcoholic Liquors to an Intoxicated Person, which is a misdemeanor offense.

Jones was released on her own recognizance following the arrest.

Officials have also filed administrative charges against Emmaculate Sports Bar LLC. The alleged violations include serving an intoxicated person and refilling liquor bottles.

The establishment is also cited for allowing alcohol consumption off the premises and failing to report changes in financial interest. These matters will go before the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commissioner.
