DELAWARE MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE PURSUIT IN CAMBRIDGE, MARYLAND

Dorchester County, MD - On the evening of May 5, 2025, a routine traffic stop in Cambridge, Maryland, turned into a significant incident involving a vehicle pursuit and the discovery of illegal narcotics.


A deputy from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office noticed a vehicle with a non-functioning rear registration plate light at the intersection of Race Street and Cedar Street in Cambridge, Maryland. When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop and opted for a dangerous high-speed pursuit, violating several traffic laws throughout the Cambridge neighborhood by ignoring stop signs and recklessly navigating through one-way streets against oncoming traffic.


The pursuit concluding near the 800 block of Wood Street. There, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and collided with a parked car. In the immediate aftermath, the suspect tried to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended in a nearby yard.


A thorough search of the vehicle revealed a variety of contraband, suggesting involvement in the illegal drug trade.


A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of the following:


• 668 grams of suspected cannabis

• 18 grams of suspected crack cocaine in multiple bags

• Approximately 40 grams of suspected crack cocaine in a mixing container

• Inositol powder (a known cutting agent)

• Two digital scales

• Thirty-three individual baggies

• Three mobile phones

• Assorted containers and packaging materials

• $3,232 in U.S. currency in various denominations


The driver, identified as 22-year-old Bray'Veon Z'Shawn Demby from Delaware, now faces multiple charges which includes:


• CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics - Felony

• CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute Cannabis - Misdemeanor

• CDS: Possession of Cannabis (Over Civil Limit) - Misdemeanor

• CDS: Possession - Not Cannabis - Misdemeanor

• Manufacture of CDS - Narcotic - Felony

• CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia (x2) - Misdemeanor

• CDS: Distribution of Paraphernalia - Misdemeanor


After his arrest, Demby was presented before the District Court Commissioner, who ordered him to be held without bond, resulting in his transportation to the Dorchester County Detention Center.


On May 6, 2025, Demby had a bail review in front of the Honorable Judge Melvin Jews, who ordered Demby to remain being held without any bond.
