Delaware Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of Family Member in Millsboro

Sussex County, DE - The Delaware State Police have arrested 40-year-old John Sulecki in connection with the fatal shooting of a family member on Thursday in Millsboro, Delaware.

According to police, troopers responded to a home on White Pine Drive in The Pines at Long Neck community on March 19, 2026, at about 12:10 p.m. A family member who had run from the residence called 9-1-1 and reported that Sulecki had a gun and had shot a 72-year-old female relative during an argument.

When troopers arrived, Sulecki was taken into custody without incident. Inside the home, officers found the victim with a suspected gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation. Detectives determined that Sulecki and the victim had been involved in an argument. Police said that while the two were in a back room of the house, Sulecki shot her.

Sulecki was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,060,000 cash bond.

The charges include first-degree murder, a felony, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
