Millsboro, DE - An incident that unfolded yesterday at a Millsboro industrial site that is now being investigated by the Delaware State Police. The accident took place at WWC III Trucking, located at 34564 Pear Tree Road in Millsboro, Delaware.

At approximately 3:49 p.m on February 20, 2024, officers were sent to the reports of an industrial accident. Prior to their arrival, a 55-year-old man, who had suffered serious injuries, had already been rushed to a local hospital.

Upon conducting a thorough investigation, it was identified that the unfortunate victim was operating a torch with the intention of cutting the top off a barrel. It is important to note that this specific barrel had previously been a container for a flammable liquid.

Due to this, the vapors within the barrel spontaneously ignited, causing an explosion that led to the severe injuries of the victim.

The case remains under investigation by Delaware State Police detectives.
