Delaware State Police Arrest Milton Woman for Lewes Robbery

Lewes, DE - The Delaware State Police have arrested a Milton, Delaware woman following a robbery in Lewes, Delaware. Shelly Sortino, 41-years old, was taken into custody on the evening of January 13, 2026.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. at the Dollar General Store, located at 1549 Savannah Road in Lewes, Delaware. Troopers responded to reports of a robbery involving a female suspect.

Witnesses stated the suspect wore white sweatpants, a dark sweatshirt, and a mask. She approached two employees and implied that she was in possession of a firearm while demanding money. The suspect removed currency from the register before fleeing in a blue Ford Focus with Delaware tags.

At approximately 8:00 p.m., troopers located a disabled blue Ford Focus in the 14000 block of Staytonville Road in Lincoln, Delaware. The driver was identified as Shelly Sortino, who matched the description of the robbery suspect.

A subsequent check revealed an active capias warrant and confirmed the vehicle's license plate was stolen. Following further investigation, Sortino was identified as the robbery suspect and arrested without incident.

Sortino was transported to Troop 7 where she was charged with First Degree Robbery and Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11.

Sortino has been committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $33,000 secured bond.
