Delaware State Police Investigate Fatal Crash in Seaford

SUSSEX COUNTY, DE - The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred in Seaford, Delaware, on December 2, 2025, at approximately 10:10 p.m., when a Toyota 4-Runner was traveling in the right lane of Sussex Highway, south of Brickyard Road.

At that time, a pedestrian attempted to cross the southbound lanes of Sussex Highway from the center grass median. The individual entered the path of the Toyota and was struck in the right lane.

It was determined that the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and was not carrying a flashlight. Preliminary findings indicate that the pedestrian's vehicle had run out of gas along the northbound median prior to the collision.

The pedestrian was identified as a 66-year-old man from Seaford, Delaware. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity is currently being withheld pending the notification of his family. The driver of the Toyota, an 18-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, was not injured.

Following the incident, the southbound lanes of Sussex Highway were closed for approximately three hours. This closure allowed for the scene to be investigated and cleared.
