Delaware State Police Investigates Single-Vehicle Fatal Crash in Delmar

DELMAR, DE - Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred in Delmar on Friday evening.

The preliminary investigation determined that on December 19, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a Toyota Tundra was operating westbound on Bacons Road, west of Bi State Boulevard.

As the vehicle approached a leftward curve, it exited the northern edge of the roadway, impacting a utility pole and subsequently overturning multiple times.

The operator of the vehicle, a 24-year-old male from Delmar, Delaware, was not properly restrained and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

The operator was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identification of the victim is currently withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Bacons Road remained closed for approximately seven hours to facilitate the on-scene investigation and repair of the damaged utility pole.

Update 12/21/2025 at 10:15 AM - The Delaware State Police have identified 24-year-old Tyler Wright, of Delmar, Delaware, as the man who died from injuries sustained in this crash.
