Delaware State Police Investigating Single-Vehicle Fatal Crash in Georgetown

Sussex County, DE - The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred on Sunday in Georgetown. At approximately 5:10 p.m. on March 22, 2026, a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on Zoar Road. The vehicle was located west of Governor Stockley Road and was approaching a slight curve.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle failed to navigate the curve. It subsequently entered a nearby farm field. The vehicle struck an irrigation system and a utility pole before overturning onto its roof. The exact cause of the crash remains under active investigation.

The driver was identified as 23-year-old William Chilel-Ramirez of Millsboro, Delaware. He was transported to a local hospital following the crash. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the medical facility.

The roadway was closed for an extended period to allow for scene investigation and clearing operations. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation.
