Dewey Beach, DE - On June 26, 2025, at approximately 10:56 p.m., officers from the Dewey Beach Police Department arrested a 20-year-old male in connection with the possession of cocaine and a fake identification card. The incident occurred near Dagsworthy Avenue.

Officers initially responded to reports of possible fraudulent ID use. Upon arriving at the scene, a male subject fled on foot. The officers identified themselves and issued verbal commands for him to stop.

After a brief pursuit, the individual was apprehended and taken into custody without further incident. He was then transported to the Dewey Beach Police Department for processing.

The arrested individual was identified as Dylan Hoffman, a 20-year-old from Chevy Chase, Maryland. During the arrest, officers discovered a fake identification card in Hoffman's possession. They also recovered a substance weighing approximately 7.4 grams, which was confirmed to be cocaine.

Although Hoffman initially refused to provide his name and date of birth, he eventually complied with the officers' requests. While he declined to submit to a portable breath test, officers detected the odor of alcohol, and evidence at the scene suggested that Hoffman may have been under the influence of both alcohol and cocaine at the time of the incident.

Hoffman has been charged with felony drug possession, possession of a fictitious identification card, resisting arrest, and offenses related to underage alcohol consumption. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and later released on his own recognizance.
