DEWEY BEACH POLICE RESPOND TO CRITICAL MEDICAL EMERGENCY

Dewey Beach, DE - On Thursday, June 26, 2025, at approximately 9:00 PM, the Dewey Beach Police Department responded to a medical emergency involving an unresponsive adult male at a residence on Saulsbury Street in Dewey Beach, Delaware.
When officers arrived, they found an off-duty firefighter performing CPR on the individual, who was located on the front porch of the residence. A Dewey Beach officer quickly deployed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), which administered two shocks. The device then detected a pulse and indicated that no further shocks were necessary.
Emergency medical personnel from the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department (RBVFD) and Sussex County EMS arrived shortly thereafter and took over patient care. Dewey Beach officers assisted the emergency crews by retrieving essential medical equipment from the scene. The individual was subsequently transported to Beebe Hospital by RBVFD for further evaluation and treatment.
The Dewey Beach Police Department expressed gratitude to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department, Sussex County EMS, and the Delaware State Police for their prompt and coordinated efforts during the incident.
