Dorchester County Animal Abuse Investigation Launched Following Multiple Complaints
Dorchester County, MD - On March 20, 2026, the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant in the 6800 block of Gravel Branch Road in Hurlock, Maryland.
The operation was conducted in coordination with Dorchester County Dog Control and a certified veterinary specialist from Maryland. The warrant was issued in response to local complaints regarding animal abuse and neglect.
During the search, deputies located multiple animals and livestock on the property, including horses and goats. A veterinarian evaluated all the animals at the scene.
Based on this evaluation, the immediate seizure of the livestock was not deemed necessary. Instead, the veterinarian provided specific care recommendations.
However, one horse was found deceased on the property. A second horse was humanely euthanized by the veterinarian due to pre-existing injuries.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office continues to work closely with veterinary professionals. Investigators are also consulting with the Dorchester County State's Attorney's Office regarding potential charges for the responsible individuals.
Charges are currently pending. No further information is being released at this time, and additional details will be provided as they become available.
