Dorchester County Mother and Daughters Assaulted by Group of Juveniles; Asks for Help and Change with System
Cambridge, MD - This week, we learned that a Dorchester County mother, Lakesha Graves and her daughters, were attacked by a group of students in Cambridge, Maryland approximately 1 month ago. These students boarded a school bus that they did not normally ride and attacked this family in a video that is circulating around social media.
Mrs. Graves and her daughters were assaulted by kids as young as 11 years old, and as old as 15 years old! They were punched, they were kicked, they were dragged by their hair and all of these kids are juveniles!
Four of the individuals were referred to Juvenile Services, while others were too young to be charged.
I've watched the video, which I won't post in here because of the violence and social media policies and it's horrible, very difficult to watch and even harder to listen to these kids laugh about what they were doing, as if it was entertainment. The way these children disrespected an adult, was mind-blowing.
This mother was trying to convince these children to go home, while telling her daughters to get in their vehicle to prevent any violence and to try to be the reasoning voice.
Mrs. Graves stated that prior to the attack, the school was warned and the family begged for intervention however no one took action and as a result, the attack took place.
Mrs. Graves says she has since pulled her children out of school for their safety but she wants answers, and she wants to see change.
Juvenile justice laws in the state of Maryland are laughable at best. We've posted numerous previous articles about the Juvenile Justice System in Maryland and what can, and can't be done to these juveniles.
The system ties the hands of our law enforcement officers, prevents our local states' attorney's from taking action and things are not getting any better, if anything, they are getting worse!
What will it take for the State of Maryland to change it's ways and protect its' citizens?
Mrs. Graves plans on starting at local government and going from there. She is planning on attending the City Commission meeting on November 24, 2025 at 6:00 PM and encourages anyone in the area, to come show her support.
Location: City Commission Chambers - 305 Gay Street - Cambridge, Maryland 21613.
