Easton Man Arrested on Drug and Traffic Charges Following Flight from Police
EASTON, MD - Officers from the Easton Police Department served an arrest warrant on a local man on December 9, 2025. Salwan A. Thapar, 28, of Easton, Maryland, was taken into custody and transferred to the Talbot County Detention Center.
He has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) with the intent to distribute, among other offenses.
The charges stem from a traffic stop that occurred earlier in the year on March 29, 2025. Police originally stopped Thapar's vehicle on N. Washington Street near Chapel Road.
During the interaction, officers requested a K-9 scan of the vehicle. When the K-9 unit from the Talbot County Sheriff's Office arrived, Thapar allegedly fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
Authorities later located Thapar and took him into custody. A K-9 unit conducted a search along the path of the vehicle's flight.
During this search, officers discovered a digital scale and suspected cocaine.
Thapar now faces multiple charges including CDS possession (not cannabis), possession of paraphernalia, obstructing and hindering, reckless driving, and negligent driving.
