Easton Man Arrested on Drug Charges Following K-9 Sniff of a Vehicle on a Traffic Stop
Talbot County, MD - On February 9, 2026, officers from the Easton Police Department were conducting a marked patrol near South Washington Street and South Street in Easton, Maryland.
A traffic stop was initiated after a vehicle was observed failing to stop at a stop sign. A narcotics K-9 unit was subsequently requested to respond to the location to conduct a sniff around the vehicle.
During an open-air sniff of the vehicle, the K-9 displayed a positive alert for the presence of a trained narcotics odor.
A search of the vehicle and its occupants was then conducted by the officers. Suspected narcotics were located on a passenger, who was identified as 37-year-old Dean D. Baynard of Easton, Maryland.
Baynard was subsequently issued a criminal citation for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, excluding cannabis.
