Easton, MD - On March 27, 2026, at approximately 9:47 p.m., an officer with the Easton Police Department was patrolling the area of Glebe Road and North Washington Street.

During the patrol, the officer heard a loud noise consistent with a motor vehicle collision. Immediately following the sound, a black truck was observed traveling north on Washington Street without operating headlights.

The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle, however, continued traveling north at a high rate of speed. Before the officer could reach the truck, the driver lost control.

The vehicle struck the curb on the west side of Washington Street, crossed over to the east side, and rolled over into the yards of multiple residences before catching on fire. The driver was later identified as 20-year-old Nefteali Gomez Roblero of Easton, Maryland.

The officer approached the burning vehicle and safely removed an occupant. Preliminary investigations determined that this individual was a passenger, and Gomez had already fled the scene on foot.

The passenger was transported to the R. Adams Crowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

With assistance from a Talbot County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit, a track was conducted. Gomez was located at a nearby residence and taken into police custody without incident.

Based on the officer's observations, Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered to the suspect. Following his performance during these tests, Gomez was charged with Driving Under the Influence, along with numerous other traffic-related offenses. He was subsequently released to the custody of the Talbot County Detention Center.
