Easton Police Arrest Man Following Altercation at Downtown Restaurant

Easton, MD - Officers from the Easton Police Department arrested a Maryland man following a disturbance at a local restaurant on October 5, 2025.


The incident occurred at Doc's Downton Grille while officers were assisting with a medical emergency at the establishment. Restaurant staff were informing remaining patrons that it was time to leave the premises when officers observed a verbal confrontation between two individuals.


Police identified one of the individuals as Christopher J. Diehl, 23, of Federalsburg, Maryland. According to the report, Diehl was yelling at restaurant employees and was advised multiple times to leave the establishment.


The situation escalated when Diehl swung his hand at one of the employees while holding a glass bottle. Officers immediately intervened and escorted Diehl from the business before placing him under arrest.


During their interaction with Diehl, officers noted that he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Intoxicated Public Disturbance.


Following his arrest, Diehl was transferred to the custody of the Talbot County Detention Center.


On October 5, 2025, Diehl appeared before the Talbot County District Court Commissioner, who released him on his own recognizance.
