Easton, MD - The Easton Police Department arrested Anthony E. Carpenter, 59, of Royal Oak, Maryland, on October 20, 2025. He faces charges of stalking and providing a false statement to a police officer.

Following his arrest, Carpenter was transported to the Talbot County Detention Center and later released on a $15,000 unsecured personal bond.

The investigation began on October 1, 2025, when officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at Idlewild Park. Witnesses reported that an individual was attempting to talk to children at the location.

Upon arrival, officers located Carpenter, who matched the description provided by the witnesses. Officers spoke with Carpenter and obtained his information.

At the time, they did not observe any behavior consistent with the initial report. Carpenter subsequently left the park.

Further investigation revealed that Carpenter had provided a false name to officers during the encounter. Investigators also learned that Carpenter had been observed at the park several weeks earlier.

Witnesses reported similar behavior during that prior incident. The findings led to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

The case remains under investigation by the Easton Police Department.
