Emergency Road Closure Announced for Delmar Road in Sussex County, Delaware

Delmar, DE - The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has issued an emergency notification regarding the closure of Delmar Road between Providence Church Road and Old Racetrack Road.

This section of the road will be closed for necessary repairs starting Monday, August 4, 2025, and is expected to remain closed through Thursday, August 7, 2025.  

According to DelDOT, the closure is required to replace a failed crossroad pipe. Officials have stated that the repairs are critical for ensuring road safety and functionality in the affected area.  

To assist with navigation, DelDOT has provided the following detour routes:  

• From the West  
  • Take a right onto Providence Church Road.  
  • Turn left onto West Line Road.  
  • Turn right onto Old Racetrack Road to bypass the closure.
• From the East  
  • Turn left onto Old Racetrack Road.  
  • Take a right onto West Line Road.  
  • Turn right onto Providence Church Road to reach locations west of the closure.
