Explosive Device Detonated in Galena Mailbox
Galena, MD - An investigation is currently underway following the detonation of an explosive device inside a residential mailbox in Kent County. The incident occurred on January 4, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the 13700 block of Gregg Neck Road.
The property owner discovered the damage after the device was intentionally placed inside the mailbox and detonated.
The explosion caused an estimated $80.00 in damage to the structure and its post.
The preliminary cause has been determined to be incendiary. The primary responding agency, the Kent County Sheriff's Office, did not deploy fire personnel as there was no active fire to suppress.
Deputies have initiated an investigation to identify potential suspects involved in this post-blast incident.
