Fatal Accident on Locust Street Under Investigation
CAMBRIDGE, MD - Authorities are investigating a fatal accident that occurred Monday evening on Locust Street.
On December 8, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Cambridge Police Department was dispatched to the 600 block of Locust Street following a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building.
Upon arrival, officers found a utility pole had been split in half and was lying in the street with live, hanging power lines. A red pickup truck had crashed into the front porch of a residence.
Approximately 25 feet from the crash site, officers discovered a individual, who was identified as Armond Hayward 3rd, a 44-year-old Cambridge, Maryland resident, unresponsive on the sidewalk.
Officers observed downed, energized electrical wires near Mr. Hayward and believed he had been electrocuted. Witness reports later helped to confirm this information.
Emergency personnel from Delmarva Power responded to the scene to manage the electrical hazard. Mr. Hayward was pronounced deceased at the scene due to electrocution.
The cause of the initial vehicle accident is still under investigation.
