Laurel, DE - The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a fatal collision that occurred earlier this month in Laurel, Delaware. The incident, which took place on February 3, 2024, around 3:30 p.m., involved a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt and a 2008 Dodge Charger.

The incident happened at the intersection of Camp Road and Sussex Highway, where the Chevrolet Cobalt was stationary at a stop sign on the road's eastern side. Meanwhile, the Dodge Charger was swiftly moving southbound in the left lane of Sussex Highway, edging closer to Camp Road.

For an unknown reason, the Cobalt entered the Charger's path, resulting in the front of the Charger colliding with the Cobalt's left side.

The 57-year-old male driver of the Dodge Charger, a resident of Laurel, Delaware, escaped with minor injuries and declined medical attention at the scene. Tragically, the driver of the Chevrolet Cobalt, an 81-year-old woman from Millsboro, Delaware, was not as fortunate. She was rushed to a nearby hospital with severe injuries sustained from the devastating collision.

Sadly, two weeks later, on February 17, 2024, the 81-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries. As the Delaware State Police await family notification, her identity remains under wraps.
