Fatal Crash Investigation Underway in Laurel
Laurel, DE - The Delaware State Police are actively investigating a fatal crash involving three vehicles that occurred on Saturday evening in Laurel.
On February 7, 2026, at approximately 6:25 p.m., a Chevrolet Silverado was positioned in the crossover at the intersection of Sussex Highway and Mount Zion Road. The vehicle was attempting to travel westbound across Sussex Highway.
At the same time, an Infiniti QX60 was traveling southbound on Sussex Highway, with a Ford Escape following behind it.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Silverado pulled into the path of the Infiniti while attempting to cross the highway. The front of the Infiniti subsequently struck the passenger side of the Silverado.
Following this initial impact, the Ford struck the rear of the Infiniti.
Latisha Horsey, a 43-year-old passenger in the third row of the Infiniti, sustained life-threatening injuries during the collision. She was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries on February 8. She was a resident of Milford, Delaware.
Several others involved in the incident were treated for injuries. The driver of the Infiniti, along with three male passengers, were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford was also transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet and two child passengers were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit. Witnesses or individuals with relevant information are asked to contact Senior Corporal J. Smith at (302) 703-3267.
