Fatal Crash Under Investigation in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, DE - Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred Monday afternoon in Georgetown.
The crash happened on September 15, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Dupont Boulevard (US 113) near the intersection with Redden Road. A Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on Dupont Boulevard when it collided with a Mack Anthem truck pulling an empty grain trailer.
The truck had been stopped northbound on Dupont Boulevard at the intersection. The driver was attempting to turn left onto Redden Road when the collision occurred. A posted yield sign controls this crossover location.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Mack truck failed to yield the right of way while turning left through the crossover into the southbound lanes. The Nissan struck the right side of the trailer during this maneuver.
The driver of the Nissan was a 49-year-old woman from the Bronx, New York. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash but was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.
The driver of the Mack Anthem truck was a 76-year-old man from Cambridge, Maryland. He was also wearing a seatbelt and sustained no injuries in the collision.
The roadway remained closed for approximately three and a half hours while Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit members conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.
