Milton, DE - The Delaware State Police have arrested 22-year-old Tahrie Calloway from Claymont, Delaware, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred on the morning of July 26, 2025, in Milton, Delaware. Calloway faces charges including vehicular homicide, DUI, and multiple traffic-related offenses.

At approximately 7:39 a.m., a 2017 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Sand Hill Road near Burton Road in Milton, Delaware. A 67-year-old bicyclist was traveling along the eastern edge of the roadway in the same direction, just ahead of the vehicle.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the front right side of the Honda struck the bicyclist as the vehicle attempted to pass. The impact caused the bicyclist to be thrown into the grass.

The driver of the Honda fled the scene without stopping to render aid. The bicyclist was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

The driver of the Honda, later identified as Tahrie Calloway, was located approximately one mile north of the collision site alongside his disabled vehicle. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel discovered Calloway at the scene.

Through investigative efforts, troopers linked the damage to the Honda to the hit-and-run collision, and Calloway was taken into custody without incident.

During the investigation, troopers observed several indications of impairment, including the smell of alcohol on Calloway's breath. A DUI investigation was conducted, and impairment is suspected to have been a contributing factor in the crash.

Following his arrest, Calloway was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 4, where he was charged with the following offenses:

  • Vehicular Homicide 2nd Degree (Felony)
  • Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Death (Felony)
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence (Felony)
  • Driving Under the Influence
  • Inattentive Driving

Calloway was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $18,101 cash bond.

Sand Hill Road was closed for approximately three hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and cleared the scene.

Troopers are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Senior Corporal J. Smith at 302-703-3267.
