Fatal Motorcycle Crash Under Investigation in West Ocean City, Maryland

OCEAN CITY, MD - Maryland State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist on Wednesday morning in West Ocean City, Worcester County, Maryland.


The operator of the motorcycle, Dennis Ellis, 65, of Berlin, Maryland, was pronounced deceased at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital after being transported by ambulance.


The occupants of the second vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 17-year-old male driver and an 18-year-old female passenger, were uninjured.


The crash occurred on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at approximately 10:17 AM at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Inlet Isle Lane. Troopers from the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack responded to the scene.


A preliminary investigation indicates that Ellis was traveling westbound on his motorcycle through the intersection when he was struck by the Jeep. The driver of the Jeep had reportedly failed to yield the right of way and was issued traffic citations at the scene.


The Worcester County Sheriff's Office, Ocean City Fire Department, and Ocean City emergency medical services also provided assistance at the location. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the ongoing investigation.
