Salisbury, MD - The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that took place on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland.

According to preliminary findings, officers with the Salisbury Police Department (SPD) were working to locate a suspect connected to a homicide that occurred earlier that day. Around 7:00 p.m., SPD officers found an adult man in the driveway of a residence in the 700 block of Jefferson Street. The man was standing near a vehicle with an object on the hood.

Officers confronted the man and issued repeated commands. The man did not comply and reached for the object on the hood. Multiple officers then discharged their service weapons, striking the man. Officers provided medical aid until EMS arrived and transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A handgun was recovered from the driveway near the man. No officers were injured during the incident.

The IID is requesting that anyone with information about this investigation contact them at (410) 576-7070 or by email at IID@oag.state.md.us.

The IID typically releases the names of the decedent and discharging officers within two business days of the incident. This period may be extended if necessary under IID protocol.

Officers on scene were equipped with body-worn cameras that recorded the incident. The IID generally releases body-worn camera footage within 20 business days of an incident. In some situations, more than 20 days may be necessary.

This can include cases where investigators need additional time to complete witness interviews, technical delays occur due to the need to protect the identities of civilian witnesses, or when family members need to view the video before public release.
