Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Georgetown Under Investigation

Georgetown, DE - Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Thursday evening in Georgetown, Delaware. The crash resulted in one person passing away and one person injured.

The incident took place on October 16, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Lewes-Georgetown Highway east of Gravel Hill Road. A Honda Civic was traveling westbound when it crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane. The vehicle struck an oncoming Audi A4 head-on.

The Honda's driver, a 25-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police are withholding his identity pending family notification.

The Audi's driver, an 18-year-old woman from Hockessin, Delaware, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was also taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The collision forced authorities to close Lewes-Georgetown Highway for an extended period. The roadway remained shut down while investigators examined the scene and cleared the wreckage.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into the cause of the crash. Officials have not yet determined why the Honda crossed into oncoming traffic.
