Fire Departments Respond to Structure Fire on South Kaywood Drive

Wicomico County, MD - On February 15, 2026, at approximately 2:15 PM, a structure fire occurred in the 500 block of South Kaywood Drive in Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland. The incident involved a single-story, wood-frame, single-family dwelling with an attached garage.

The fire was discovered by a neighbor who alerted the occupants. The Salisbury Fire Department responded as the primary agency, with 50 firefighters arriving at the scene.

One occupant was assisted out of the residence by fire personnel.

It took approximately 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. The preliminary investigation indicates the fire originated in the attic and was accidental, resulting from an electrical event.

Smoke alarms were present in the home but did not activate due to the fire's location in the attic.

Two occupants have been displaced and are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross. The estimated loss by the State Fire Marshall's Office is valued at $200,000.00 for the structure and $100,000.00 for the contents.
