Fire Destroys Pole Barn in Dorchester County, Maryland

Dorchester County, MD - A fire engulfed and destroyed a one-story, wood and metal-framed pole barn in Dorchester County on Wednesday evening.


The structure, located on Golden Hill Road, measured approximately 40 by 60 feet.


The fire was reported by a neighbor, and the Church Creek Volunteer Fire Company was the primary responding fire department.


A total of 30 firefighters from Church Creek Volunteer Fire Company, and assisting agencies, answered the two-alarm fire, which took an hour to bring under control.


Preliminary damage estimates place the losses at $50,000 for the structure and an additional $50,000 for its contents.


The fire originated in the interior of the barn, and its cause remains under investigation.
