Fire Displaces Two Occupants in Linkwood

LINKWOOD, MD - On August 26, 2025, a structure fire occurred in the 3800 block of Ocean Gateway, in Linkwood, Dorchester County, Maryland, displacing two residents.


At approximately 4:06 P.M., the Linkwood-Salem Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a one-story, single-family home for a reported structure fire, where the fire was predominantely contained to a bathroom.


A total of 20 firefighters responded to the scene and brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes.


The occupants were home at the time of the incident and were alerted by smoke alarms, allowing them to evacuate the residence safely.


An investigation determined the fire originated in the bathroom and was caused by an accidental failure of the exhaust fan.


The estimated loss is $50,000 for the structure and $1,000 for its contents. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants.
