Wicomico County, MD - In the early hours of January 7, 2025, at 9:34 AM, a structure fire broke out in 400 square-foot wooden frame shed on Stockyard Road, in Eden, Wicomico County, Maryland.

A passerby discovered the incident and quickly alerted the local fire department. The Fruitland Volunteer Fire Department-the primary responding team-acted rapidly, with 15 firefighters working relentlessly to contain and extinguish the one-alarm fire within 40 minutes.

Even though the shed was vacant and secured at the time of the fire, the estimated loss from the incident is a significant $30,000, with an equal contribution from the structure and its contents.

The origin of the fire was determined to be inside the shed. Though the electrical panel indicated signs of an unspecified electrical event, the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
