Caroline County, MD - The Caroline County Sheriff's Office has announced the passing of former Deputy and Interim Sheriff Charles Andrew. Known for his dedication to public service and his family's legacy in local law enforcement, Andrew served the agency with distinction until 1994.

Charles Andrew began his career in public service with the Caroline County Sheriff's Office, following in the footsteps of his father, who was a former sheriff of the county. After his father's final term as sheriff, Charles Andrew was appointed Interim Sheriff, serving in that role until December 1994.

In January 1995, Andrew became the Warden of the Caroline County Detention Center when the facility was established as a separate entity. He led this position with steady leadership and an unwavering commitment to justice.

The impact of the Andrew family on law enforcement in Caroline County is commemorated through the Caroline County Detention Center, often referred to as the "Andrew Building." Until 2021, this facility housed both the Caroline County Sheriff's Office and the Detention Center before operations moved to Double Hills Road. The building's name honors the Andrew family's decades of dedicated service to law enforcement in the area.

Colleagues who worked alongside Charles Andrew remember him for his quiet strength, dependable leadership, and commitment to public service.

Details regarding memorial services have not yet been released.
