Former OCPD Lieutenant Throws His Name In The Hat For The Upcoming Ocean City Election
Ocean City, MD - On February 8, 2026, a resignation from the Ocean City Town Council was submitted by former member Tony DeLuca. A special election to fill the vacant council seat is scheduled for April 21, 2026. The newly elected official will serve the remainder of the open term.
On March 2, 2026, a campaign for the open seat was announced by former Ocean City Police Lieutenant Jeff Heiser. Heiser retired from the Ocean City Police Department in 2024.
During his law enforcement career, he was recognized as the 2020 OCPD Officer of the Year. He is currently employed as an instructor at Wor-Wic Community College. Heiser is married to Worcester County State's Attorney Kris Heiser.
The following statement was released by Heiser:
"I'm excited to announce that I am running for OC City Council in the special election!! After a career of service with the Ocean City Police Department, and many discussions with concerned citizens and neighbors, I would like to continue serving this Town that I love. I am humbly asking for your support and your vote on April 21, 2026!!
I pledge to listen to local concerns, communicate and respond quickly to help resolve community challenges, fully fund public safety, and help the town grow and thrive in a fiscally responsible manner.
