Quantico, MD - The Wicomico County Health Department has confirmed that a fox tested positive for rabies on October 28, 2025. The animal was found in the area of Catchpenny Road in Quantico, MD.

Health officials are urging all residents to remain vigilant and avoid contact with wild or stray animals in the area.

Rabies is a preventable viral disease found in the saliva of infected mammals. The virus spreads through bites, scratches, or when infected saliva comes into contact with open wounds, mucous membranes, or the eyes, nose, and mouth. Without treatment, rabies is fatal in both humans and animals.
