Hit-and-Run Incident Leads to DUI Arrest in Cambridge, Maryland

Cambridge, MD - On July 4, 2025, at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers from the Cambridge Police Department responded to reports of a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash on the 100 block of High Street in Cambridge, Maryland. While en route, officers were informed that the vehicle involved in the incident was located at Long Wharf.


Upon arrival, officers identified the driver as 56-year-old Deborah Covey Tucker, a resident of Cambridge, Maryland. Tucker appeared to be attempting to repair a part of her vehicle at the time.


Witnesses at the scene reported observing the vehicle Tucker was operating colliding with another vehicle on High Street.


During their interaction with Tucker, officers noted signs of impairment and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Tucker confirmed that she had been driving on High Street at the time of the collision while talking on her phone.


When requested to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST), Tucker refused.


Subsequently, Tucker was taken into custody and transported to CPD headquarters for processing. She was later released on citations.


Tucker is facing charges, including:


  • Driving a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol  
  • Driving While Impaired by Alcohol  
  • Refusal to Take Alcohol Testing  
  • Failure to Control Vehicle Speed on a Highway to Avoid Collision
