House Explosion in Dagsboro Leaves One Dead, One Injured

Dagsboro, DE - An investigation is underway following a house explosion in Dagsboro on the morning of September 30, 2025. The incident, which occurred in the 25000 block of Gum Tree Road, resulted in one fatality and one injured.
Emergency services were dispatched shortly after 7:00 AM. Upon arrival, the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company and assisting fire companies found a single-family home with heavy structural damage.
Neighbors had already helped one occupant escape the residence. This individual was transported by Emergency Medical Services with minor injuries.
A second occupant remained trapped inside the collapsed structure. Technical Rescue Units entered the debris and located a deceased victim.
The victim was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for identification and to determine the cause of death.
The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is leading the origin and cause investigation, with assistance from the Delaware State Police and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Currently, there are no indicators of criminal activity related to the explosion. The investigation is ongoing.
Damages are estimated at $500,000.
