House Fire Displaces Family in Talbot County

Talbot County, MD - A two-alarm fire caused significant damage to a home in Easton, Talbot County, Maryland on the evening of January 24, 2026. The Easton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident to the 29000 block of Country Way Lane at around 7:28 p.m.

Sixty-seven firefighters arrived at the scene to find a two-story, wood-frame, single-family dwelling with a basement and attached garage involved in flames. 

The fire originated in the interior of the attached garage before extending into the rest of the home. Crews worked for approximately two hours to bring the fire under control.

A neighbor discovered the fire and alerted the residents, allowing the family to escape safely without injury. Smoke alarms were present and activated during the incident. 

While there were no reported injuries, three people have been displaced. The family is currently receiving assistance from friends and relatives.

The structure is considered a total loss, with damages estimated at $550,000 to the structure and $100,000 to its contents. The preliminary cause remains under investigation.
