House Fire Displaces Five Residents in Cambridge, Maryland

CAMBRIDGE, MD - A structure fire displaced five residents from their home on Mariners Way in Cambridge, Maryland, on September 15, 2025. The Rescue Fire Company responded to the incident at 7:03 PM in the 100 block of Mariners Way in Dorchester County, Maryland.


The fire occurred at a two-story, wood frame single-family dwelling with an attached garage. The property owner discovered the fire, which originated in the garage area. Preliminary investigation determined that the cause was accidental, resulting from the failure of a lithium-ion battery.


Twenty firefighters responded to the single-alarm fire and brought the situation under control within 15 minutes. The structure sustained an estimated $25,000 in damage, with contents damage also estimated at $25,000.


There were five individuals that were displaced as a result of the incident.
