HOWARD PETERSON CONVICTED & SENTENCED FOR POSSESSION WITH THE INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES

Salisbury, MD - On August 10, 2023, Howard Peterson, age 61, of Salisbury, Maryland, pleaded guilty to two (2) counts of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. The Honorable Matthew A. Maciarello, Associate Judge for the Circuit Court for Wicomico County, accepted the plea and subsequently sentenced Peterson to twenty-three (23) years of incarceration with all but fourteen (14) years being suspended.Upon his release from prison, Peterson will be supervised by the Division of Parole and Probation for three (3) years.On October 20, 2022, Deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Department conducted a traffic stop on the Defendant's vehicle and located suboxone strips and a large amount of U.S. currency. A subsequent search was executed at Peterson's residence, which resulted in the seizure of cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and oxycodone. Deputies also located paraphernalia that is used to package and distribute controlled dangerous substances.Wicomico County State's Attorney (SA) Jamie L. Dykes thanked the Wicomico County Sheriff's Department for their work in this investigation. SA Dykes also thanked Senior Assistant State's Attorney Patrizia J.
