Inaugural Governors Challenge Collegiate Tournament set to take place this weekend in Wicomico County

Salisbury, Md. - The inaugural Governors Challenge Collegiate tournament is scheduled to take place from Friday, November 21, to Sunday, November 23, at the Wicomico Civic Center.

The three-day tournament will feature nine Division III men's and women's basketball teams.

"We're excited about expanding the Governors Challenge brand into the collegiate space," stated Justin Polizzi, tourism manager for Wicomico County. "This tournament not only elevates the D3 student-athlete experience, but also engages our community on another level."

The men's teams scheduled to participate are Salisbury University, Roanoke College (ranked No. 10 by D3hoops.com), Wesleyan University (ranked No. 13 by D3hoops.com), Notre Dame of Maryland University, and Gettysburg College.

The women's teams in attendance will be Salisbury University, Lehman College, Kean University, and Immaculata College.

Official tournament apparel from a collaboration between Governors Challenge and Starter will be available. A pop-up shop will be on site, with a limited number of items for purchase. Preorders can be made online.

Free youth basketball clinics will be held on Friday, November 21. Instruction will be provided by Salisbury University men's and women's basketball coaches and players.

Tickets are currently on sale, with options for general admission and courtside seating. Weekend-long passes are also available for purchase.
