INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY FOR FATAL HIT-AND-RUN PEDESTRIAN CRASH IN BETHEL, DELAWARE

Bethel, DE - The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash that took place in Bethel on the evening of June 15, 2025.


Around 8:51 p.m., an unidentified vehicle was traveling eastbound on Bethel Road, just west of O'Neal's Road. Preliminary investigations indicate that a pedestrian entered the road from the north side, placing herself in the path of the vehicle. The vehicle struck the pedestrian and subsequently fled the scene, continuing eastbound on Bethel Road.


The victim, a 78-year-old woman from Seaford, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene when authorities arrived the following morning, June 16, 2025, at approximately 6:15 a.m. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.


The incident caused the roadway to be closed for about five hours while members of the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.
