Juvenile Arrested Following Traffic Stop and Foot Pursuit on Greenwood Avenue
Cambridge, MD - On March 5, 2026, at approximately 2:17 a.m., officers from the Cambridge Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue. The stop was initiated because the vehicle was operating without activated headlights. The vehicle pulled into a nearby apartment complex. Multiple subjects then exited the vehicle and left the scene on foot. Officers observed one passenger holding a handgun while exiting the vehicle. Officers pursued the suspect on foot to the 500 block of Greenwood Avenue. The suspect was subsequently apprehended and placed under arrest. During the foot pursuit, the suspect threw the firearm to the ground. Officers recovered the discarded weapon. It was identified as a loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun. Officers also recovered a discarded quantity of cannabis. The recovered cannabis was in an amount indicative of distribution. While officers were engaged in the foot pursuit, the other subjects returned to the vehicle. They left the area before additional officers could arrive on the scene. The apprehended suspect was identified as a 15-year-old male juvenile from Hurlock, Maryland. The juvenile was transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing. He was later transferred to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Services in Salisbury, Maryland.
